When is the Best Time to Visit Windsor Castle?
To bypass long queues, consider a visit to the castle in winter time. When visiting during the high season, some moments are more favorable for castle entry than others. To make the most of your visit to Windsor Castle during peak times, opt for a weekday and aim to arrive either after or during the Changing of the Guard ceremony at 11:00 am. This strategic choice can help enhance your experience by minimizing wait times and allowing you to explore the castle grounds with ease.
How Much Time Should I Plan to Visit Windsor Castle?
Windsor Castle is a vast and complex site with many different attractions, so the amount of time you need to visit will depend on your interests and pace of travel. However, most visitors would need at least 2-3 hours to explore the castle thoroughly.
If you are primarily interested in the State Apartments, you could see them in about 1-2 hours. If you are also interested in the Queen’s Private Apartments, the Round Tower, and the Changing of the Guard ceremony, you would need at least 3 hours, and preferably more.
